The LatiTube Pocket Double is exactly that, DOUBLE!! Double the fun, double the throughput, double the tube time, and double the adrenaline! With 3 modes of operation built in, the double allows for either 2 riders at a time or one giant wave at the push of a button. As the most versatile product in the range, one version of the Double boasts right and left hand wave areas to suit both natural and goofy foot surfers. The double can be configured in many ways, a peak, a large right, a large left or even a left and right that joins together to form one giant 9m wide 2.4m high wave face.
The Pocket Double of course includes the dynamic wave and tube features, and a whopping 2.4m high barreling wave that everyone can ride. 7 years to 70, everyone gets tubed on a pocket double, two at a time in fact.
All operating modes are intuitive and touch activated making it simple for the operator. Different modes are selected by the operator to match the minute to minute requirements of the patrons. The operator can initiate each different mode in a matter of seconds making the ride adjustable not only for the group but the individual as well.
Operation of the Double is done via a handheld, waterproof radio remote that allows the operator to fully engage with the riders and move freely about the wave surface while always in touch button control.
Dynamic wave features consisting of changing the wave shape, the tube/barrel feature, and the variable water intensity, are instantly changeable to reflect each riders requirements, skills and age.
Riders begin each turn with the ride in a low energy state, the rider assumes their position and the required flow is the initiated by the operator, riders use their hand outstretched to balance themselves by touching the ride surface as they ride thus enable greater control and virtually instant success. As riders build skill and confidence the operator can, at the touch of a button increase the power, change the wave shape and initiate the Tube/Barrel feature.
A minimum of one operator is required to run the attraction situated in close proximity to the controls and emergency stop at all times. However, depending on the selected mode, one or two staff/operators may be required.
An allowable limit of participants (maximum 20 for two operators, 15 for one operator) are able to move around the decking and access stairways. The waiting riders queue along the front lower deck (Cream Section in Images) with the next rider in turn waiting on the lower wave surface.
Depending on customer demand, throughput is controlled by the duration of the wave cycles from the control console. This can range from 20 seconds during peak demand, to 60 seconds, or longer, as required. The wave ramps up for this period then drops for approx. 5 seconds to allow riders to change over. This ramp up/down cycle fosters low energy costs as the wave only draws maximum load for seconds during the wave cycle.
The potential throughput of the Pocket Double is forecast on a maximum wave cycle of 2 per minute including rider change over. This coupled with the potential number of riders at one time produces a maximum of 240 rides per hour. Variations of this depend on the frame type, installation configuration and mode selected. As the frame and installation configuration will be selected at the design phase, the operating mode will be the only variable once the ride is built.
Another key feature of the Pocket Double is its' ability to match patron demand to operating ride cost. This is possible through the multiple Operating Wave Configurations, which vary the system demand (and subsequent operating costs) depending on the mode selected. If there is a temporary reduction in patronage, the operator can select one of the modes reflective of the period.
